Today I’m gonna review an USB WiFi adapter. The main purpose of these adapters is to make a wireless internet connection on desktop computers.
That’s exactly what I wanted. The computer was given to the child's room to study computer science and for the general development of child’s computer literacy. However, there were no network cables early laid. Now, there is no point in dissecting the floor or hanging wires on top. Since there is already a WiFi router in the apartment for internet connection.
The adapter came well packaged in a cardboard box made of quite thick paper. The package has a full color printing and a top coat of laminated layer with a porous structure. It's quite clear in the photos where light bounces off.
This adapter can not only receive the WiFi signal, but also transmit it, for example if your computer has wired internet.
Package contents of the COMFAST CF 916AC adapter is at a high level. For safety, the adapter is additionally fixed in a plastic blister. Included are a CD with drivers, a stamped warranty card, a warranty book, and a manual. Everything is well-made and in English. You can see what was going on in the production to ensure the quality. Additionally, the usb socket is covered by a plastic flap. I think, this is too much, but it’s a nice kind of attitude to the products.
The adapter turns and bends in any direction.
The size was larger than I expected, but it’s only an advantage of the adapter, as this must improve signal receiving.
I decided to disassemble the antenna to see what is inside. Instead of the intended piece of wire over the entire interior length, there was an intricate construction. I suspect that different sets of coils are made to work with two frequencies – 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz. What is in the center of the antenna in a heat setting, remains a mystery to me.
Now on the computer for Wi-Fi signal receiving there is the outdated TP-Link TL-WN821N 300Mbps router, which was bought urgently in the nearest store, but is still working.
The computer is placed in one bearing wall from the WiFi router in the opposite side. In a straight line there is about 5 meters distance. Comparative sizes.
Test an internet speed using Speedtest.
First let’s test TP-Link TL-WN821N.
Let’s connect COMFAST CF 916AC. While connecting, the system has installed the drivers, I even didn’t notice while getting out from under the table, if she read them from the disk, installed in the drive, or set by default. But I didn’t break it or install some extra.
As you can see, the results for COMFAST CF 916AC are almost 2 times better than for TP-Link TL-WN821N, which is very good for such distance from the router.
I was completely satisfied with the internet speed. WiFi adapter also made an impression with its design and build quality. Therefore, I can safely recommend it for purchase.
