The owner of the Bluedio trademark is a Chinese company that has been producing headphones, headsets and speakers since 2002. The company has its own factory with production lines, engineering and design departments. Initially, the products were focused on the domestic China market, but over time due to the high quality of the production and implemented world-class manufacturing standards, Bluedio gradually enters markets of Russia, the USA and Europe. Therefore, when you buy Bluedio products you can count on the high quality of the final product and its components.
I purchased the most popular headphone model, Bluedio T4S.
Bluedio T4S key features:
Unboxing
The parcel came in an usual bubble wrap package. Due to the rather large box, the edges were slightly damaged, but this didn't affect the integrity of the headphones themselves. Packaging handled the load, and you could say that the box came almost intact.
Bluedio products are also designed for the Russian market, so the package markings are also duplicated in Russian.
In general, we have the high-quality package.
Inside the box the headphones are fixed by a transparent plastic form. This model is available in 3 colors: black, red and white. But because of its size, it seems to be a male model. Therefore, it's weird to see such bright colors in this model line.
Get the headphones out of the box. You can feel that they're quite weighty. The weight of the headphones is about 350 grams. Earphones arcs are made of metal.
On the round outer overlays there are engraved Bluedio logos, that shimmers with all the colors of the rainbow. The overlays are ribbed.
The headphones rotate easily on metal hinges. We're gonna discover headphone construction in more details later, now just look into the components.
The Bluedio brand wants to show its cares about customers. Therefore, there are an user manual and a reminder of what to do if you're unhappy with the product.
The manual deserves a special mention. It's made in 8 languages, including Russian. The translation is obviously machine, but it's good enough and easy to understand.
In set there is also a cover and 2 cables.
The charging cable on USB type C.
The 3.5 mm audio cable to use the headphones as usual wired ones. Cable length is 1.5 m.
The case for storing the headphones. It confused me a bit. It's so small that you can't place the headphones fully within. At the same time, in the middle of the case there is a membrane, clearly showing how to put headphones into it - separately place speakers into the left and the right pocket. If you place them this way, the case isn't completely closed, it leaves a part of the headband with the logo open. Perhaps it meant to be open so that everyone can see the name of the model.
Use
Headphones can be easily connected via Bluetooth with a smartphone or a laptop. Supports Bluetooth 4.2. But since I use them mainly for the PC, I purchased in addition a Bluetooth adapter https://www.gearbest.com/usb-gadgets/pp_132021.html. It's simple to configure: put it in the USB connector and use. No drivers, the Windows 10 system already recognized it. When you turn on the headphones they automatically connect to the PC and the music begins to broadcast to the headphones. If you use them with a smartphone, you get an extra hands-free option to switch tracks using the buttons on the headphones.
The headband is soft and quite elastic. Headphones can be confidently fixed on the head, but because of its weight and large size, with sudden movements they can fall by inertia. Therefore, they aren't designed for active movement, and they seem to be uncomfortable for jogging and so on.
The earcups cushions are large, their outer diameter is 8.5 cm. They fully cover ears, and when you put the headphones on, they immediately cut off all the external sounds. The earcups cushions are the same size for the left and the right ear, and in fact the headphones can be used in any position. But at the ends of the hinges there are R\L labels specifying the correct use.
The headphones use 57 speakers, which give excellent bass. The manufacturer says that the speakers work in the 15Hz-25Khz frequency response and their impedance is 16Ohms.
The headband's lenght is adjustable. For convenient use there is a scale from 1 to 10, and the headband also fixes by clicks for each division separately that's also convenient.
A few more photos of the Bluedio T4S headphones:
All control buttons are gathered on the right side of the headphones. On the front panel there is a switch to turn on the active noise cancelling system. When it's activated, the green indicator lights up next to the switch.
What exactly is this noise cancelling system. When the mode is on, after a few seconds, the high frequencies of the music are removed, and it becomes more "flat". While noises are also heard regardless of the mode. Then I'm disappointed... I expected some high technology with anti-phase sounds of headphones speakers, for moise compensation and annihilation. All we got are the glowing indicator, and flat sound.... If you turn this mode on without any music, you can hear some "white noise" loud and clear. In general, I expected that I could see a person that opening the mouth without any sound and I would be surprised by such an effect, but it all turned out to be more prosaic - I can hear everything as before, either quiet monotonous sounds or loud ones.
But the headphones themselves, thanks to the huge earcups cushions that fully cover the ear, cut off the external sounds very well. In this case, if there is also some music playing in the headphones even at moderate volume, outside sounds are easily lost, and you can't hear someone knocking at your door for half an hour, and then this person suddenly appears in your room in front of you and starts to ask, why didn't you open the door. And you haven't heard nothing: neither knocks, neither the opening door, nor steps.
On bottom, there is a USB type-c connector for charging and connecting as wired headphones.
To the right there is the power indicator and 2 buttons - the power button, and the pause\play button. The buttons are easy to feel, but there are inconvenient to use. You have to press and wait for 5 seconds to turn them off. First, the device disconnects, as reported in the headphones. And only in further pressing it turns off.
On the opposite side there is a volume switch, and in further pressing it switches tracks forward/backward for smartphones.
Summary
I purchased Bluedio T4S Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones to listen to music, and then they did great - the sound is full bodied, three-dimensional with excellent bass and upper frequencies. For a similar price category, they are a cut above the SONY, which I used before.
We also got an excellent set, problem-free Bluetooth, and passive external noise reduction. Also for this money we got an extra virtual noise cancelling system, but in my opinion it's more marketing than a really effective system.
Bluedio did a great product, no wonder it's the bestseller based on the number of orders compared to their other models.
If you want sound quality try the Bluedio I4S Bluetooth Noise Cancelling Headphones, they're sure to pleasantly surprise you!
